Capital City Surgery Center Receives Medicare Certification and Full, Three-Year AAAHC Accreditation

capital city surgery centerRALEIGH, NC (Oct. 15, 2012) – Capital City Surgery Center, a joint venture ambulatory surgery center (ASC) between WakeMed Health & Hospitals, local physicians and Compass Surgical Partners, has received its Medicare license and a full, three-year Accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). The ASC opened in July 2012.

"We are thrilled that Capital City has received its full accreditation, which represents the high level of quality and care that Compass strives for with each of our partner ASCs," says Sean Rambo, Compass founder and Chief Operating Officer. "The AAAHC certification is evidence of the highest level of health care and clinical standards in the industry, and we are proud to offer this level of quality health care services to the residents in the Triangle area."

Formed in 1979, AAAHC is a private, non-profit organization that develops ambulatory health care standards for patient safety, quality care and value through peer-based accreditation processes, education and research. To be awarded a Certificate of Accreditation, the ASC must be in compliance with AAAHC standards.

"The AAAHC Accreditation has also allowed the Center to join participating insurance networks, such as BCBS of North Carolina," Rambo says. "Accreditation is received after an intense two-day, on-site inspection that examines patient cases, policies and procedures. This was an important milestone in the growth of the ASC and provides evidence of the high-quality of care we strive for."

Capital City Surgery Center is a multi-specialty ASC located in Raleigh, NC, near WakeMed's Raleigh Campus. With eight operating rooms and three procedure rooms, the center offers a range of specialties, including general orthopedics, sports medicine, hand, spine, pain management, ENT, ophthalmology, urology and general surgery.
