Raleigh, N.C. and Vero Beach, Fla. May 13, 2019 – Compass Surgical Partners and local surgeons have sold a majority stake of The Advanced Center for Surgery (ACS) to United Surgical Partners International (USPI).

ACS is a partnership between Compass and community physicians in Vero Beach, including many of the physicians of Vero Orthopaedics & Neurology. The physicians, in conjunction with the expertise of the Compass team, made the Advanced Center for Surgery a high-quality musculoskeletal surgical option for residents of Vero Beach and Indian River County.

As Stuart Surgery Center celebrates its one-year anniversary, we wanted to reflect on a year of success! In April 2018, Martin Health System (MHS), five of Martin’s gastroenterologists, and Compass Surgical Partners opened a freestanding GI facility in Stuart. This is Martin’s first freestanding GI center in Martin County/Stuart. The center provides for endoscopy procedures in a lower cost setting, a huge benefit to Martin County residents. The facility itself was repurposed from prior use as a multi-specialty surgery center: A win for not only patients (lower cost, ease of access), but also for the community at large as its puts into use an existing community asset in the heart of town.

Raleigh, N.C. and Davenport, Fla. March 2019 – Compass Surgical Partners has sold its shares of Heart of Florida Surgery Center (HFSC) to Community Health System, Inc. (CHS). Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, a CHS hospital, was an existing partner in the surgery center. The transaction is the culmination of a successful partnership between CHS and Compass. Compass supported CHS to structure the initial partnership, construct the facility just across from Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center’s main campus, achieve AAAHC accreditation status, and manage the facility from its initial launch until today. Post-transaction, CHS will assume full responsibility for HFSC’s management.

Opened in July 2017, the facility was the result of Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center’s strategy to better align with the market by expanding its ambulatory surgery capabilities. HFSC provides a convenient, new surgical location for surgeons in Polk County. Many surgeons on staff at HFSC are employed or affiliated with Heart of Florida Medical Center.

Raleigh, N.C. and Tampa, Fla. – March 5, 2019 –In late 2018, Compass Surgical Partners and a group of physicians formed a new partnership called Legacy Surgery Center (LSC) and acquired Elite Surgery Center, an existing ambulatory surgery center in Tampa. The center is located at 6918 Gunn Highway in Tampa and includes three operating rooms designed to support advanced orthopedic and spine surgery.

The state-of-the-art center was opened in 2014 with the intent of becoming a destination for advanced outpatient surgery in the Bay Area. The center, initially designed for spine and orthopedic surgery, and is centrally located and convenient to Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tampa International Airport.

Raleigh, N.C. and St. Petersburg, Fla. – February 22, 2019 –January 24th marked the opening of Skyway Surgery Center in St. Petersburg, Fla. The new state-of-the-art, 10,000 square foot outpatient facility was developed in partnership with a group of independent neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, pain management specialists and Compass Surgical Partners. Skyway Surgery Center is located at 625 6th Avenue South in St. Petersburg, in close proximity to downtown and Bayfront Medical Center.
