Raleigh, N.C. and Davenport, Fla. – July 21, 2017 – Heart of Florida Surgery Center (HFSC), a new freestanding surgery center in Davenport, Fla., is now open and providing convenient, high-quality, high-value surgical options for residents of Davenport and the entire Polk County region. The 13,000-square-foot center, located at 410 Lionel Way in Davenport, is a partnership between Compass Surgical Partners, Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, and a group of local physicians.

HFSC is the first freestanding surgery center affiliated with Heart of Florida Medical Center. Provides Vero Beach Community with Convenient Health Care Options

Raleigh, N.C. and Vero Beach, Fla. – May 22, 2017 – The Advanced Center for Surgery, an ambulatory surgery center located in Vero Beach, Fla., completed its first outpatient total joint replacement case May 4, 2017. The procedure, a knee replacement performed by Robert Hill, DO, Vero Orthopaedics & Neurology, showcases the expert level of care now conveniently available to residents of Vero Beach.

Interest in outpatient orthopaedic procedures like this one are trending up across the nation. In fact, there was a 47 percent increase in elective outpatient hip and knee replacement procedures nationally between 2012 and 2015, and that upward trajectory is expected to continue. Orthopaedic patients traditionally limited to hospital settings find value in the medical and technological advances that now allow ASC facilities like The Advanced Center for Surgery to provide safe, high value alternatives while maintaining, and in many cases, enhancing patient outcomes.

December 21, 2016 – After successful 23-hour stay total joint surgeries over the past year, Capital City Surgery Center has built 3 patient rooms designed for comfort and privacy for overnight care.

This program will allow the center to meet the needs of patients who require total joint surgeries who will be able to recover and be discharged within 23-hours. 

December 6, 2016 – In North Carolina, community-based ASCs have teamed up to form the North Carolina Ambulatory Surgical Center Association.

Here are four key points:

1. Kelli Collins, VP of operations at Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates, will be the association's president.
2. Raleigh, N.C.-based Compass Surgical Partners' President and CEO Sean Rambo will serve as NCASCA's secretary/treasurer.
3. Membership is eligible for any entity licensed as an ASC in North Carolina as well as physician practices that use ASCs. Throughout North Carolina, there are 118 licensed ASCs.
4. Next year, the association will hold its first meeting in Greensboro, N.C., and will launch a new website in January of 2017.

"The formation of NCASCA will allow the state's ASCs to advocate on behalf of our community with a united voice before state licensure officials, the North Carolina Industrial Commission and the General Assembly," Ms. Collins said. "I look forward to working with ASC administrators throughout the state to promote the value of North Carolina's ASCs as a critical component of the healthcare delivery system."
