Compass Surgical Partners Sells its Stake in Heart of Florida Surgery Center
Raleigh, N.C. and Davenport, Fla. March 2019 – Compass Surgical Partners has sold its shares of Heart of Florida Surgery Center (HFSC) to Community Health System, Inc. (CHS). Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, a CHS hospital, was an existing partner in the surgery center. The transaction is the culmination of a successful partnership between CHS and Compass. Compass supported CHS to structure the initial partnership, construct the facility just across from Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center’s main campus, achieve AAAHC accreditation status, and manage the facility from its initial launch until today. Post-transaction, CHS will assume full responsibility for HFSC’s management.
Opened in July 2017, the facility was the result of Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center’s strategy to better align with the market by expanding its ambulatory surgery capabilities. HFSC provides a convenient, new surgical location for surgeons in Polk County. Many surgeons on staff at HFSC are employed or affiliated with Heart of Florida Medical Center.
The Compass team feels privileged to have supported Heart of Florida and CHS in its goals to better serve residents of Davenport, Haines City, and other surrounding communities in Polk County. The surgery center will be a fully integrated part of Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center moving forward and a high-value community asset for years to come.
