Raleigh, N.C. and St. Petersburg, Fla. – January 12, 2018 – A group of independent Neurosurgeons, Orthopedic surgeons, and pain management specialists have come together to form a new ambulatory surgical facility in St. Petersburg, Fla. The new center, to be called Skyway Surgery Center, will be located near downtown St. Petersburg, in close proximity to Bayfront Medical Center. The outpatient surgical facility will be managed in partnership with Compass Surgical Partners, a Raleigh, N.C. based operator of ambulatory surgical centers.
The new center will be 10,000 square feet and have two operating rooms and one additional procedure room. It will be a state of the art center and will support many surgical procedures traditionally performed in the hospital. The surgical experience at Skyway Surgery Center will be second to none, with equipment, staffing, surgical protocols specifically geared toward minimally invasive orthopedic and spine outpatient surgery.
As a result, the surgery center will offer a convenient, high-value surgical option for patients, employers, and third-party payers. As with all Compass-operated ASCs, the facility plans to become certified by Medicare and accredited by the Ambulatory Accreditation Association for Health Care.

Along with some of our area colleagues and Compass, we will ensure that our patients get the most out of their surgical experience in terms of convenience, cost, comfortability, and clinical outcomes.”
Initial physician partners in the facility include the neurosurgeons of Neurosurgical Associates of Tampa Bay, orthopedic surgeons of Pinellas Medical Associates, West Florida Pain Management, PA and other local providers. The facility is expected to open in late 2018.
