Compass Signs Second Tampa Bay Center

safetyharbor(August 15, 2012) – Compass Surgical Partners has been awarded a management contract for Safety Harbor Surgery Center in Clearwater, Fla. The team is providing operational oversight to the center, whose specialties include general surgery, GI, ophthalmology/retinal surgery and orthopedics. In addition, Compass is restructuring the operations and positioning the ASC for physician partner resyndication and growth.

Raleigh, North Carolina (July 18, 2012) – WakeMed Health & Hospitals announces the opening of the Capital City Surgery Center, a multi‐specialty ambulatory surgery center (ASC) located near WakeMed Raleigh Campus.  The Capital City Surgery Center is a joint venture between WakeMed and community physicians and is managed by Compass Surgical Partners. The new Capital City Surgery Center has eight operating rooms and three procedure rooms currently equipped for general orthopedics, hand, spine, ENT, ophthalmology, urology and general surgery.

Compass Closes Second Round of Syndication for Capital City Surgery Center

(July 1, 2012) – Compass Surgical Partners has added 16 new surgeons to Capital City Surgery Center, a joint venture between Wake Med, local physicians and Compass. This latest round of syndication closed on July 1, 2012, creating a partnership with 40 local physicians. The initial round of syndication closed March 1, 2012, with 24 physician partners.

The multispecialty ASC located near WakeMed Raleigh Campus is a joint venture between WakeMed and community physicians and is managed by Compass Surgical Partners. Capital City Surgery Center has eight operating rooms and three procedure rooms currently equipped for general orthopedics, hand, spine, ENT, ophthalmology, urology and general surgery.

DJ Hill Speaks at 4th Annual NJ ASC Review Program

(June 14, 2012) – DJ Hill was invited to speak at the 4th Annual New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers Review, a seminar on the latest regulatory and business developments affecting New Jersey ambulatory surgery centers. The seminar is an opportunity for national and statewide ASC leaders to discuss the current issues affecting the industry.

Hill made a presentation on the topic: "National Trends: NJ Implications — Guidance for Turbulent Times." During his talk, he discussed four national trends: the pressure of a lower reimbursement climate, hospital employment of physicians, "power" physician groups and market saturation.

Scott Nation, RN, Joins Compass

(June 1, 2012) – Scott Nation, RN, formerly Vice President of Clinical Operations and Vice President of West Operations for Titan Health Corporation, joined Compass Surgical Partners as Senior Operations Executive.

Nation began his career as an operating room nurse and manager. He has more than 20 years of experience in the outpatient health care industry, serving in critical clinical, administrative and executive roles. He brings a wealth of skill and knowledge to clinical operations, turnaround situations, Joint Commission accreditation and ASC management.

With a deep knowledge of surgery center operations, Nation oversees the day-to-day operations of Compass partner ASCs while implementing an effective, hands-on approach.
